Orientation for new graduate students set for Aug. 20

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – The Penn State Graduate School will hold a half-day orientation session for all new graduate students, including new international graduate students from 1 to 5 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 20, in Eisenhower Auditorium. Topics such as using eLion and ANGEL, mentoring and graduate student life will be covered, and a presentation on graduate student services and benefits, including health insurance, will be given. All graduate students on any form of assistance administered through the University are automatically enrolled in the graduate assistant benefits program that will be covered during this session, and all new international graduate students are required to attend.  A welcome reception for participating new students will follow orientation at 5 p.m. in Alumni Hall at the HUB-Robeson Center.

The Graduate and Professional Student Association will offer an optional one-hour campus tour in conjunction with orientation to begin at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 20. The tour will begin at the main entrance of Kern Graduate Building and conclude at the HUB-Robeson center.

New graduate students should confirm their attendance for the orientation session and/or campus tour no later than Friday, Aug. 8.
