UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – In its inaugural year at Penn State in 2013, The Color Run 5K drew nearly 10,000 people to run 3.1 miles and get pelted with colored powder along the way.

Planning is underway for the 2014 edition, which will now be expanded to offer entry to as many as 15,000 runners. The race begins at 9 a.m. Sept. 14. The race will again raise money for Penn State’s Homecoming committee. Homecoming festivities are planned for Sept. 20 to 27.

Last year’s race required multiple changes to transportation on campus. Roads were temporarily closed and bus routes were altered. Traffic changes for the 2014 race will be publicized on http://news.psu.edu in the weeks leading up to the event.

Founded in 2011 and billed as the “Happiest 5K on the Planet,” The Color Run hosted more than 170 events in more than 30 countries last year. For more information, go to http://thecolorrun.com/penn-state.
