Zolko wins Financial Executive of the Year

Wayne Zolko, associate vice president for finance and business and controller at Penn State Hershey, has been named 2014 Financial Executive of the Year by the Central Penn Business Journal (CPBJ).

On May 22, Zolko was one of 24 local executives who were honored at the fourth annual Financial Executive of the Year awards held at York College of Pennsylvania. This program recognizes those who contribute to some of the region's most successful companies, nonprofit organizations and government establishments with their fiscal leadership. Zolko was the winner for the category of nonprofit organizations with revenues more than $60 million.

He was nominated by Harjit Singh, professor of radiology, surgery and medicine, and associate dean, Office for Diversity,  who said, “I nominated him because all conversations about budget, finance, etc. come back to Wayne. He is just such an integral part of our campus, our success and yet refuses to accept the accolades he so deserves.”

Zolko has been with the Medical Center for 20 years. According to his interview with the CPBJ, he believes that honesty and respect form the foundation for all successful relationships -- both business and professional. He also says that his most enjoyable and meaningful experiences here have been overseeing the financing and construction of some the major facilities on campus like the Cancer Institute and the Children’s Hospital.
