Smeal Senior Awards granted to 15 graduating students

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. -- This year, 15 Penn State Smeal College of Business students earned senior awards, which recognize graduating students who have excelled in scholarship, leadership, character and service to the college.

This year’s winner of the Helen Eakin Eisenhower Award was Dan Rost, graduating with a dual major in accounting and finance as well as a master of accounting degree.

The Eisenhower Award is given to a graduating senior who has demonstrated scholarship, leadership, character and service to Smeal.

Ralph H. Wherry Student Service Awards were granted to 10 students this year:

-- Jarrod Bruno, finance

-- Markea Dickinson, supply chain and information systems

-- Kalyn Flournoy, marketing

-- Andrea Fochler, marketing

-- Matthew Lane, management

-- Seth Lengel, accounting, finance

-- Rishi Mittal, finance

-- Jesse Swank, supply chain and information systems

-- Daniel Trushkov, supply chain and information systems

-- Leah Virbitsky, supply chain and information systems

The Wherry Student Service Award honors graduating seniors who have excelled in service to the college, who have exhibited academic achievement and who manifest the promise of a successful professional career.

Milton J. Bergstein Student Community Service Awards were presented to Fuad Ligali and Karl Osis, both actuarial science majors with statistics minors.

The Bergstein Awards honor seniors who have achieved success in at least one student organization and have demonstrated ongoing involvement in a community service program outside of Smeal.

This year’s recipient of the George Leland Leffler Scholarship, awarded to an outstanding senior in finance, was Jenna Pica, who will also graduate with minors in international business and Chinese language.

The John M. and Anne B. Stevens Senior Award for Academic Integrity was awarded to Kyle Wang, a finance major with a minor in Chinese language.

The Stevens Academic Integrity Award honors those who demonstrate leadership in academic integrity by serving on the Smeal Academic Integrity Committee, promoting academic integrity by taking a leadership role in Smeal’s Business Roundtable Association or aiding in the refinement of academic integrity processes for Smeal undergraduates.
