March 25, 2014

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. -- University Health Services and Penn State Strength and Fitness are teaming up to launch the Penn State Fitness Challenge.

The Challenge is designed to encourage more physical activity among University Park students. The Challenge rewards students who work out at University Park fitness centers 20 times between March 26 and April 25.

To enter the Challenge, students must have a valid Penn State fitness membership and purchase a punch card at the White Building or Rec Hall fitness information desks for $5. Then, each time they work out at White Building, Rec Hall, Natatorium Fitness Loft or IM Building fitness centers or classes, they will receive a punch on their card.

If participating students earn 20 punches on their card between March 26 and April 25, they should return their pass to the White Building or Rec Hall information desks to be entered to win prizes.

Prizes will include a $75 gift card to Rapid Transit Sports, yoga gear and classes (Yoga in State College, Lila Yoga and UHS), a prize pack from Appalachian Outdoors, body composition tests from Fitology, fitness assessments from the PSU Fitness Assessment Center, T-shirts and more.

The $5 donation benefits the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention, the leading national not-for-profit organization exclusively dedicated to understanding and preventing suicide through research, education and advocacy, and to reaching out to people with mental disorders and those impacted by suicide.
