Employees urged to walk for your health on National Walking Day

March 19, 2014

Penn State Hershey Heart and Vascular Institute and the American Heart Association (AHA) are encouraging Penn State Hershey employees to improve their heart health by walking on National Walking Day. From 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. April 2, all employees are invited to walk the brick path outside the Crescent Building on their lunch break – 617 steps is all it takes for one lap. By exercising for as little as 30 minutes each day, anyone can reduce their risk of heart disease.

Exhibits promoting walking and good health will be located throughout the hospital main floor:

-- Walking Loop: Burn those calories.

-- Main Entrance: Check your shoe size, get the right fit.

-- North Lobby: Learn ways to increase physical activity while sitting, plus check out the free peripheral vascular screening.

-- Rotunda Café: Promote good nutrition – spin the wheel, answer a question and win a prize.

Employees who visit two of the four exhibits or walk the brick Crescent loop will be entered to win an AHA goodie basket and other giveaways.
