UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. -- The No. 19 Penn State women's gymnastics team claimed its second Big Ten Freshman of the Week honor of the season when freshman Emma Sibson (Allen, Texas) was honored by the conference office on Monday (March 3) for her efforts last Friday night in a quad meet win over Bridgeport, Western Michigan and Yale.

It is the first career weekly Big Ten honor for Sibson, who tied for the event title on the vault and finished third on the balance beam.

Sibson continued her strong rookie campaign with her third event title on the vault this season to go along with a pair of solid showings on the balance beam and floor exercise. The freshman tied for the top spot on the vault with teammates Sidney Sanabria-Robles and Krystal Welsh.

She then set a new career-best with a 9.825 on the balance beam to finish third overall and help Penn State sweep the podium on the event. Her mark of 9.725 on the floor exercise helped Penn State close out the team win with their second highest team score of the season at 196.600.

Sibson's efforts helped Penn State remain among the top-20 teams on all four apparatus. The Nittany Lions currently sit 15th on the floor exercise (49.120), tied for 15th on the vault (49.095), 18th on the balance beam and 21st on the uneven bars (48.985). Their team Regional Qualifying Score of 195.910 ranks 19th in the NCAA.

Earlier this season, Penn State swept the weekly awards after their season opening victory over Iowa State. Randi Lau won Gymnast of the Week, Kassidy Stauder won Event Specialist of the Week and Nicole Medvitz claimed the Freshman of the Week award on Jan. 6.
