K-9 units get explosive detection training on campus

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – Penn State hosted training exercises in explosives detection for police and their canine partners Feb. 20 at Beaver Stadium. Training will continue Feb. 21 at Eisenhower Auditorium.

Penn State University Police, Pennsylvania Capitol Police and Pennsylvania State Police participated in what are monthly exercises hosted on a rotating basis among the agencies.

Penn State’s two K-9s: Wynne, an 8-year-old yellow Labrador, and Rudie, a 2-year-old Belgian Malinois, are a part of the University Police’s bomb squad, one of 12 in the state.
