Hope Express leaves Hershey today to bring support to THON

February 19, 2014

At 6 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 20, 46 runners – including two Four Diamonds cancer survivors – will depart from the main entrance of Penn State Hershey Children’s Hospital on their journey to Penn State's University Park campus and the Bryce Jordan Center for THON. The Hope Express is a 135-mile run created to bridge the gap between the families at the Children’s Hospital and the dancers at THON.

The runners, who are divided up into three Hope Express teams, will complete separate routes to Penn State over a 24-hour period. The teams will consist of THON alumni, Four Diamond families (past and present) and others.

Runners will carry a bag of letters from Four Diamonds families, expressing their gratitude to the students at Penn State and THON who support the Four Diamonds Fund.
