UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. -- On Monday, Feb. 17, Penn State’s Board of Trustees selected Eric J. Barron as the University’s 18th president. President-Elect Barron spent the day on Penn State’s University Park Campus, where he met with trustees and University leadership, toured Schreyer House (the official presidential residence) and met with student leaders.

Barron, who comes to Penn State from the presidency at Florida State University, will begin in his new position on May 12. He succeeds Penn State President Rodney Erickson, who announced in 2012 his plans to retire no later than June of this year.
