Courtney Riggs tops 1,000 points scored

Penn State York's Courtney Riggs passed the 1,000-point mark on Feb. 11, during a basketball game at Penn State Mont Alto. Riggs, a senior majoring in human development and family studies, made history and is the first woman to reach this milestone at the campus. The women went on to win the game 84-68.

Riggs, from Hanover, Pa., joined the basketball team as a sophomore and accomplished this goal in three years with the help of teammates, coaches and fans. With three regular season games to go, Riggs has the opportunity to continue to increase her total. She is the second person in campus history to attain the goal of 1,000 points. Cody L. Correll, a member of the men’s basketball team was the first to earn this honor in the 2008-09 season.

Riggs played for Delone Catholic in high school.
