Premium Box accounts bring free cloud-based file storage to Penn State

Premium accounts with cloud-based file storage company Box are now available free to all Penn State students, faculty and staff. Box accounts allow users to share, organize and view files more easily and are secured by WebAccess.

Box provides redundant storage to automatically back up files and offers 24/7 access with round-the-clock monitoring so users experience little to no service interruption. The benefits of an enterprise-level account include a 50 gigabyte storage quota and a maximum file upload size of 10 gigabytes, with data encryption to conceal file information during uploads and storage.

In addition to providing automatic backup for important files, Box enables easier file sharing and collaboration between faculty, students, staff and colleagues with Box accounts at other institutions by allowing users to assign tasks to individuals and set deadlines. Mobile apps are also available so users can access, share and edit files on the go.
