Penn State Altoona offers free small business workshops

Penn State Altoona will hold several workshops for entrepreneurs, small business owners and students at the Sheetz Center for Entrepreneurial Excellence in downtown Altoona.-- Tax and Income Planning Strategies for 2014 and Beyond will be held from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Wednesdays, Jan. 8 and 15, with presenter Jeff Fleming, esquire, from Hippo, Fleming and Pertile Law Offices. -- Social Media for Small Business will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 12, with presenter Jonathan O’Harrow, webmaster at Penn State Altoona.-- Stock Market Basics will be held from 6:45 to 8:15 p.m. Mondays, March 17, 24 and 31, with presenter Robert Belsterling, instructor in economics, corporate finance and accounting at Penn State Altoona.-- Excel Basics will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, April 16, with presenter Deborah Hommer, senior instructor in business administration at Penn State Altoona. A consultant from the Small Business Development Center of St. Francis University will be on hand to answer questions pertaining to small business start-ups. The workshops are free.
