Midnight Clear declared for weekend

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. -- The Office of Physical Plant (OPP) at University Park has declared a Midnight Clear starting tonight (Dec. 6).

The Midnight Clear will run through Monday morning.

According to weather reports, 2 to 4 inches of snow will begin falling around 5 p.m. and last until midnight. More snow is expected from Sunday afternoon until mid-morning Monday. This storm could bring plowable snow.

This means that there is no parking in any surface parking lots from midnight tonight until 7 a.m. tonight, Saturday night and Sunday night.

Departments with University vehicles will need to move them into one of the parking decks or designated overnight parking areas between now and midnight. Parking Deck clearances: Nittany Deck - 6-feet 8-inches maximum, Eisenhower and HUB Decks - 7-feet maximum.

During a Midnight Clear, parking is restricted in all staff parking lots including Innovation Park from midnight to 7 a.m. on nights of an announced Midnight Clear. This restriction includes University vehicles, company vehicles, etc.

Overnight parking is available in the following areas during a declared Midnight Clear:

On Campus:
1. All parking decks under roof areas only, between 4 p.m. and 8 a.m.

Deck clearances: Nittany Deck 6-feet 8-inches maximum, Eisenhower and HUB Decks 7-feet maximum.

The East bay (the section closest to Bigler Road) on the ground floor of the East Deck is reserved for oversized vehicles that do not fit in the other garages on campus. Vehicles that normally had to remain in one of the approved surface areas because of roof racks, truck caps, etc. can be parked in the East Deck.

Signs have been posted in the East Deck reserving the East bay (closest to East Halls) for oversized vehicles. Once the signs are posted regular vehicles (smaller than 7-feet tall) are prohibited from the reserved area and must park in another portion of the garage.
