World Campus student profile videos win national honor

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — Penn State World Campus’ Web videos profiling World Campus students have received national recognition from a leading continuing and online education association. World Campus was awarded the Gold Award in the Interactive Media-Streaming Video category of the University Professional and Continuing Education Association’s (UPCEA) annual marketing awards competition. The award will be presented Nov. 7 at the UPCEA’s 22nd annual Marketing Seminar in Austin, Texas.

Maggie Smith of Fort Belvoir, Va., is a graduate of the bachelor’s degree in law and society, offered by the College of the Liberal Arts and delivered online by the World Campus.

The videos, which can be seen here, are part of an effort by World Campus to build emotional connections with prospective and current students and to stress World Campus’ convenience, flexibility and quality. The videos feature students from a variety of backgrounds and focus on three central themes: life and education balance, personal inspirations and career aspirations.

Prospective students who watched the Web videos are 11 times more likely to request additional information about Penn State’s online programs. World Campus found that the videos also helped motivate current students to complete their degree/certificate programs.
