Turnitin users should use Penn State email address

Students and instructors using the Turnitin writing assessment service (http://turnitin.psu.edu/) are urged to always use their Penn State Access Account email address consisting of their Access Account user ID plus @psu.edu, e.g., xyz123 @psu.edu, to access Turnitin. Failure to do so could affect how Turnitin grades and classes are processed.

Turnitin users should NOT use any other email address, such as a Penn State email alias, e.g., mynickname @psu.edu, or a non-Penn State account such as Gmail.

Student grades in particular are matched with the email listed within Turnitin. Instructors using the Turnitin GradeMark tool could receive data not matched to a Penn State student’s user ID if students use an alternate email.

It is recommended that instructors remind students to use their Penn State Access Account email within Turnitin.

If students or instructors use another account for email, they can set up Penn State email to be forwarded to that account. For instructions, see the IT Knowledge Base article "Forwarding Your Penn State Email."

For any questions, email turnitin@psu.edu.
