Series of themed game days set for Nittany Lion clashes in Beaver Stadium

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. -- Penn State has announced a series of themes for all 2013 Nittany Lion football home games, which began with last week’s 40th reunion of the undefeated 1973 squad.

For ticket information for each of the games, fans can go to www.GoPSUsports.com/tickets or call 800-NITTANY, from 8 a.m.-5 p.m. weekdays.

UCF, 6 p.m. Sept. 14, 6 p.m: Community Heroes DayPenn State will celebrate Community Heroes Day. First responders will be celebrated throughout the 6 p.m. game, including a special recognition at halftime. First responders can purchase tickets for the UCF game at a reduced rate by calling 800-NITTANY (8 a.m.-5 p.m. weekdays).

The UCF game also serves as the U.S. launch for the 2014 Croke Park Classic between Penn State and UCF in Dublin.

A Penn State student White Out has been declared for the UCF game.

Kent State, 3:30 p.m. Sept. 21: All “U” Day and Blue Out A celebration of all Commonwealth Campuses will occur as the Nittany Lions host the Golden Flashes at 3:30 p.m. Two students from each Penn State campus will proudly represent their campus by carrying its banner onto the field during halftime.

The Kent State game also is a Blue Out game. Fans are encouraged to wear blue attire to support the Pennsylvania Coalition Against Rape (PCAR). Official Blue Out shirts can be purchased at the Penn State Bookstore and other downtown outlets, with proceeds going to PCAR.

In addition, young teams will be featured with Youth Day. The first 10 groups to sign up will get a pre-game picture on the field. We encourage these groups to wear their team’s uniforms.

Michigan, 5 p.m. Oct. 12: Homecoming and All-Stadium White Out

The Alumni Blue Band will be featured as they join the Blue Band performance at halftime of the 5 p.m. Homecoming clash with Michigan. The Homecoming court will parade onto the field and the 2013-14 King and Queen will be announced during halftime.

A team and fan favorite, an All-Stadium White Out, is scheduled against the Wolverines. All fans are encouraged to sport white attire to ensure a transformation to Penn State’s Whitehouse. The official White Out T-shirt can be purchased at the Penn State Bookstore. Additionally, a Varsity “S” tunnel will take place for team entrance.

Illinois, Nov. 2: THON Day and Parade of Champions

The Penn State Dance Marathon (THON) will be featured for the event’s amazing fundraising efforts in the fight against pediatric cancer. The organization will present the logo for the 2014 Dance Marathon and the final total amount raised in the 2012-13 academic year. THON teams will can inside the gates of Beaver Stadium to raise money for THON 2014 in February.

At halftime, the Penn State Chapter of Uplifting Athletes will present a check to the Uplifting Athletes Organization.

The Illinois game also includes the Parade of Champions, a celebration of team and individual successes from the 2012-13 season. Penn State won a school record 11 conference championships last year, including eight Big Ten titles, with the wrestling team capturing a third consecutive NCAA Championship. Kick time is TBA. Purdue, Nov. 16: Military Appreciation Day and Stuff a Blue Bus for Central Pa. Food BankPenn State fans are encouraged to purchase tickets to be donated to soldiers and their families through the Seats for Soldiers program. ROTC elite, active duty, Wounded Warriors and veterans will be honored for their service to our country during halftime.

Penn State Athletics and the Central Pennsylvania Food Bank also will conduct their second annual food drive. Fans are encouraged to Stuff a Blue Bus by dropping off canned goods at the following drop-off locations: Bryce Jordan Center, Jeffrey Field, Medlar Field at Lubrano Park, and the Central Pennsylvania Convention and Visitors Bureau.

The goal for Stuff a Blue Bus is to collect 10,000 pounds of food. Kickoff for the game against the Boilermakers is TBA.

Nebraska, Nov. 23: Senior Day and Dave Robinson Hall of Fame RecognitionThe home schedule concludes with Senior Day at Beaver Stadium. The Nittany Lion seniors will be introduced one final time in front of the Beaver Stadium faithful, as Penn State hosts Nebraska for the final time until 2017.

Dave Robinson will be honored for his remarkable career and recent Pro Football Hall of Fame induction. He is the sixth member of the Penn State Football program to be inducted in the Pro Football Hall of Fame. Robinson was an All-American in 1962 and also has been enshrined in the College Football Hall of Fame. He earned All-Pro honors with the Green Bay Packers. Kickoff against the Cornhuskers is TBA.
