UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. -- Students interested in witnessing the Penn State men's hockey team's historic first season in Pegula Ice Arena and the Big Ten can purchase season tickets beginning Tuesday, Sept. 10 at 10 a.m. in the HUB.

Season tickets for the 1,000-seat student section are being offered at $96 for 12 of the team's 18 home games in the brand-new, $90 million facility. A valid student ID is required and tickets may be purchased with cash, check, a credit card (Visa, MasterCard, Discover, American Express) or LionCash.

The six home games not included in student season tickets fall during Thanksgiving and Spring Break (Nov. 30, Dec. 1, March 7-8, March 15-16) and will be available once single-game tickets go on sale (date to be determined).

In Pegula Ice Arena, the student section will be located behind the visiting team goaltender during the first and third periods. The section was built as steep as code allows and will be relied on heavily to create a raucous atmosphere during home games.

"I'm most looking forward to seeing our student section and the atmosphere they will create," said head men's hockey coach Guy Gadowsky. "The fan base at Penn State is second-to-none and I think it will be incredibly special."

Coach Gadowsky and members of the team will be at the sale intermittently throughout the day and students will have the opportunity to receive giveaways and a student section t-shirt (included in the price of season tickets). Fans can also enter into a raffle for an autographed jersey.

Season tickets include several marquee games:

• First game in the facility against Army (Oct. 11)• Matchups with 2013 Frozen Four participant UMass Lowell (Nov. 14-15)• Game against five-time national champion Boston College (Jan. 25)• Big Ten home opener versus Minnesota (Jan. 12)• Big Ten home series against Minnesota (Jan. 12-13), Michigan (Feb. 7-8) and Michigan State (Feb. 14-15)

In addition, RIT (Oct. 25) and Sacred Heart (Nov. 8) will visit Pegula Ice Arena during the 2013-14 season.

The season ticket sale Sept. 10 will conclude when all tickets are sold or at approximately 4 p.m. If tickets still remain after the first day, students can purchase tickets at the Bryce Jordan Center Athletic Ticket Office, which is open weekdays from 9 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.

In 2013-14, Gadowsky welcomes back 18 returning letterwinners, as well as nine newcomers, as the Nittany Lions join the Big Ten for the league's first season. Penn State, who returns its top 13 point producers and nearly 94 percent of the team's scoring, also boast four NHL draft picks on the roster, including juniors Max Gardiner (Deephaven, Minn.) and Patrick Koudys (Smithville, Ont.) and freshmen Eamon McAdam (Perkasie, Pa.) and Mike Williamson (Leduc, Alta.).
