Student tickets go on sale Monday for season opener vs. Syracuse

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. -- Penn State students who are interested in attending the Nittany Lion's 2013 season opener against Syracuse at MetLife Stadium on Saturday, Aug. 31, will have an opportunity to purchase tickets at 7 a.m. on Monday, Aug. 26. The tickets can be purchased at Gate B (northeast corner) of the Bryce Jordan Center.

A limited number of student tickets will be made available on a first-come, first served basis. Each student will be permitted to purchase two tickets at $25 per ticket and must present a valid Penn State ID+ Card to secure the tickets. All sales of all tickets will be done on a cash only basis. Credit cards and checks will not be accepted.

If student tickets still remain after 8 a.m. on Monday, the sale will move from Gate B to the Athletic Ticket Office inside the BJC. Student tickets will be available until 4:30 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 29, unless the student allotment is exhausted earlier.

The Blue and White Brigade is a new program sponsored by the University Park Undergraduate Association that will provide transportation to selected away football games at no cost to students. The buses currently are at capacity, but students still may sign up for a waiting list in the event seats open. The Syracuse game at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey and the Ohio State game at Ohio Stadium have been selected as games the Blue and White Brigade will be traveling to for the 2013 Football Season.

Public tickets for the 3:30 p.m. kickoff vs. Syracuse, as well as Penn State season and single game tickets are available by calling 1-800-NITTANY.

Penn State enters its second season under head coach Bill O'Brien, who was the 2012 Bear Bryant, Maxwell Football Club and ESPN National Coach of the Year and the Big Ten Dave McClain Coach of the Year. The Nittany Lions posted an 8-4 overall mark in 2012 and finished second in the Big Ten Leaders Division with a 6-2 record.

Penn State returns 16 starters and 37 letterwinners for the 2013 campaign. Season tickets are available for the 2013 season. The Nittany Lions will host three teams that finished in the 2012 BCS Top 25: Michigan (Oct. 12-Homecoming), Nebraska (Nov. 23) and Kent State. Purdue, Illinois, UCF and Eastern Michigan also will visit Beaver Stadium this year. The Nittany Lions open the season Aug. 31 vs. Syracuse at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, N.J.

The Nittany Lions received votes in the Preseason AP Top 25 poll and will play four teams that appear in the both the AP Poll and the USA Today Coaches Poll: Michigan, Nebraska, Ohio State and Wisconsin. Along with the four teams ranked in the Top 25, Penn State opponents Kent State and UCF each receiving votes in the preseason USA Today Coaches Poll. The Golden Flashes ended the 2012 season with an 11-3 record and an appearance in the Bowl, while UCF was 10-4 overall and defeated Ball State in the Beef O'Brady's Bowl in 2012.
