Penn State announces three football ticket programs

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. -- Current and former Nittany Lion Club members, recent Penn State graduates and former student-athletes will have the opportunity to purchase tickets to a select number of Penn State football games this season through three new programs.

Penn State Intercollegiate Athletics, the Nittany Lion Club and the Penn State Alumni Association announced the three ticket programs for the 2013 home football schedule, which features five bowl teams from 2012, including Michigan (Homecoming) and Nebraska.

In addition, Nittany Lion Club (NLC) members who have already secured their 2013 season tickets are able to purchase additional 2013 season tickets for the $385 face value without any additional donation. Nittany Lion Club members also can buy 2013 single game tickets for the $70 face value without any further donation for all games in all available Beaver Stadium seating zones. Single game tickets for the Oct. 12 Homecoming clash with Michigan are not available.

“There is nothing more important to the future of Penn State Football and Penn State Athletics than a full Beaver Stadium this season,” stated coach Bill O’Brien. “Our team feeds off the energy and enthusiasm in that stadium.”

Fans and alumni interested in tickets for any of three new ticket programs, as well as 2013 season or single game tickets, can call 800-NITTANY, from 8 a.m.-5 p.m. Monday through Friday. Public single game tickets also are available at www.GoPSUsports.com/tickets for every game except Michigan and Nebraska.

Penn State Athletics will distribute information during the next several days to qualifying alumni, fans and Nittany Lion Club members regarding these unique ticket programs.

Approximately 4,100 new season tickets have been sold for the 2013 campaign and more than 7,800 new season tickets have been sold the past two years.

O'Brien's Lions will host three teams that finished in the final 2012 BCS Top 25 in Michigan, Nebraska and Kent State. The home opener is Sept. 7 vs. Eastern Michigan, one week after the Aug. 31 season opener vs. Syracuse at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, N.J.

Tried & True Ticket Program

Former Nittany Lion Club members and current NLC members who do not have 2013 season tickets can purchase tickets for the Michigan (Oct. 12), Purdue (Nov. 16), Eastern Michigan (Sept. 7) and Kent State (Sept. 21) games in Section EH for $325 per ticket package, which is $175 off the regular ticket price. The Tried & True Ticket Program includes one ticket to the four games in the $400 per seat zone (Red), a $100 Nittany Lion Club donation, one yellow parking pass and a $5 concession coupon for each of the four games. In addition to securing a ticket to the four games, fans also will receive two Nittany Lion Club priority points for each purchased package. There is a limit of four tickets per account holder.

Recent Graduate Ticket Program

The Penn State Alumni Association and the Nittany Lion Club have teamed up to offer an exciting football ticket program exclusively for alumni who have graduated within the past five years (2009-13). This four-game package includes one ticket for the Michigan, Purdue, Eastern Michigan and Kent State games, one yellow parking pass and a $5 concession coupon for each game. The cost is $325 per ticket package, which is $135 off the regular ticket price, and includes a $100 Nittany Lion Club donation. The Recent Graduate Ticket Program includes one ticket to the four games in Section ECU in the $200 per seat zone (Yellow). Section ECU is near the student section on the east side of Beaver Stadium. Alumni also will receive two Nittany Lion Club priority points for each purchased package. There is a limit of four tickets per recent graduate for this program.

Varsity "S" Club/Alumni Challenge Ticket Program

Varsity "S" Club members that participated in this year’s Penn State Alumni Challenge for former student-athletes by making a donation to Penn State Athletics from July 1, 2012, to June 30, 2013, have an opportunity to purchase tickets for the Nebraska (Nov. 23) and UCF (6 p.m. Sept. 14) games. Tickets will be assigned at the time of purchase for the season ticket per game price ($55), a savings of $30 per pair of tickets. There is a limit of two tickets per game. Penn State Athletics and the Varsity "S" Club greatly appreciate the support by former student-athletes for the 800-plus current student-athletes across 31 sports.

Approximately 90 percent of 2012 Nittany Lion season ticket holders have renewed their seats for the coming season. Penn State annually has one of the nation's largest season ticket bases, which includes 21,000 full season student tickets, the second-largest in all of college sports.

Pre-paid single game parking passes for the general parking lots are also available at www.GoPSUsports.com/tickets. General parking purchased in advance is $10, while paying to park on game day when arriving to the general lots will cost $40.

O’Brien’s squad returns 16 starters and 37 letterwinners for the 2013 campaign. The Nittany Lions are concluding their second week of training camp.

The Nittany Lions will be featured on ESPN’s "Penn State Training Days," with a one-hour special airing at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 20, on ESPN. The first of five 30-minute Penn State Training Days shows will debut at 6 p.m. Aug. 21 on ESPNU.
