Weekly market features free concert series, other activities

The Farmers Market in Hershey offers locally grown produce, dairy products, and other specialty items every Thursday through October from 2:30 to 6:30 p.m. by the Cocoa Beanery off Bullfrog Valley Road, just off of the west side of the Penn State Hershey campus. The market features a free, weekly concert series from 6 to 8 p.m. This Thursday’s musical act is rising blues artist Danielle Miraglia. Next Thursday, Aug. 15, the Corty Byron Band will perform. The Aug. 22 concert will feature a performance by the unique rock-and-roll band, the Swaines, and eclectic singer-songwriter Kenny White will conclude the series on Aug. 29.

The Farmers Market in Hershey, a wellness-focused market located off of Bullfrog Valley Road near Penn State Milton S. Hershey Medical Center, has opened for the season. The farmers market is open Thursday afternoons from 2:30 to 6:30 p.m., through October 31. In this piece, take an "audio tour" of the market while viewing a photo slideshow of its many offerings. For those not into concerts, the market offers plenty of other health and wellness activities. This week, the market also offers a Harvest the Kids Garden event and features the Hershey Food Bank from 2:30 to 6:30 p.m. Next Thursday, Aug. 15, hosts a Manada Conservancy event from 2:30 to 6:30 p.m. answering the question of “Where does food come from?” Or, come back on Aug. 22 for the Dauphin County Library story time from 2:30 to 4:30 p.m., followed by a Healthy Back to School Snacks feature from 2:30 to 6:30 p.m. on Aug. 29.
