'Pink Ladies' raise $15,000 for breast cancer research

July 24, 2013

On Saturday, April 6, breast cancer survivor Michele Parson held her eighth annual Breast Cancer Fundraiser Dinner and Dance. The casual fundraiser included dinner, dancing, raffles, Chinese auctions, and live auction (with prizes that ranged from homemade quilts or a restaurant gift certificate to an aerobatic plane ride).

Parson and her planning committee of “Pink Ladies” have been putting this fundraiser together for the past eight years. Over the years they’ve raised more than $100,000 to support breast cancer research at Penn State Hershey Cancer Institute.

On June 26, Parson and the “Pink Ladies” presented a check for $15,000 to representatives from the Cancer Institute. All the money was raised through sponsorships, donations and ticket sales for the fundraising event.
