Penn State again ranked among top 100 world universities in 2013

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. -- The Center for World University Rankings has released its 2013 ranking of the top 100 degree-granting institutions of higher education, including Penn State on its list at No. 50, a substantial leap from No. 64 in 2012.

The top 100 for 2013 include 57 institutions in the United States, 27 in Europe and 16 among Australia, Canada, Israel, Japan, Singapore and South Korea.

The Center for World University Rankings’ methodology, as listed on its website, uses seven indicators to produce its rankings: quality of faculty, publications in top journals, highly influential research, citations, patents, academic training of students and professional future of alumni. Its aim is “to measure the quality of education and training of students as well as the prestige of the faculty and the quality of their research.”
