Nittany Lion Inn honored as AAA Four Diamond Hotel

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. -- The Nittany Lion Inn was honored as a AAA Four Diamond hotel for the fourth straight year. Tom Neely, general manager of the Nittany Lion Inn, was presented with the 2013 AAA Four Diamond Award for Lodging on Monday, June 10.

“Being a AAA Four Diamond hotel here at Penn State is a really great opportunity for the University,” said Neely. “We’re always looking at the best way to do things. That’s the focus of Penn State and Penn State Hospitality Services. We always want to be the best. The AAA Four Diamond award shows that our entire team strives for that every day. It’s a way of life for us.”

Leon Barber, chairman and CEO of AAA Southern Pennsylvania, and Kathryn May, executive vice president of AAA Southern Pennsylvania, presented the award.

The Nittany Lion Inn is one of only 1,535 other lodging establishments throughout the United States, Canada, Mexico and the Caribbean to earn this recognition. AAA rates more properties than any other rating entity. It is the only rating system covering the United States, Canada, Mexico and the Caribbean, and that conducts professional, on-site evaluations using published guidelines weighted by member priorities. The Nittany Lion Inn is a Penn State landmark and often referred to as “Penn State’s Living Room.” The property was built in 1931 and is a member of the National Trust of Historic Hotels of America.
