Executive Insights: Samsung president to speak at Smeal lecture series

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. -- Tim Baxter, president of Samsung Electronics America, will share his perspectives on business and leadership with the Penn State Smeal College of Business community on Friday, April 5, as part of the college’s Executive Insights series.

As part of his visit, Baxter will take part in a moderated discussion with Charles H. Whiteman, John and Becky Surma Dean of Smeal, from 1:25 to 2:15 p.m., in the Struthers Auditorium, Room 110 of the Business Building. The event is free and open to the public, but online registration is requested at www.smeal.psu.edu/insights.

Baxter has more than 25 years of sales, marketing and leadership experience in the consumer electronics industry. He joined Samsung in 2006 as executive vice president of sales and marketing for the consumer business division before being promoted to president in 2009. Prior, he worked at Sony Corp. of America, where his 10 years there culminated in the position of senior vice president of strategic marketing.

Executive Insights is designed to complement the Smeal educational experience by bringing high-profile business leaders to the college to connect with students, faculty, staff and administrators. Past guests include more than 25 leaders from organizations such as Boeing, Dell, Deloitte, Johnson & Johnson, Kohl’s, KPMG, Procter & Gamble, Verizon and Tumi Holdings Inc.
