PwC's Osborne named Accounting Alumnus of the Year

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. -- Geoffrey Osborne, a 1976 Penn State Smeal College of Business accounting graduate, has been selected to receive the 2012-13 Accounting Alumnus of the Year award.

Osborne is an advisory partner at PricewaterhouseCoopers, where he has worked for more than 25 years.

“Geoff began his career in the Kentucky coal industry and now leads a more than 300-person practice for PwC in Philadelphia that handles a range of forensic accounting matters,” said Steven Huddart, chair of the Accounting Department.

Osborne remains engaged with Smeal and the Accounting Department through guest lecturing in forensics classes. He is also active in recruiting efforts at Penn State.

“It is not easy for a professional in a client service enterprise to make this kind of commitment to the next generation,” said Huddart. “Geoff is a real standout.”

Osborne will receive his award at the Beta Alpha Psi banquet April 17, where he will also be the guest speaker.

The Accounting Alumnus of the Year award is the highest award given by the department and recognizes alumni with great professional success who also give back to the department and to the college.
