Dependent Verification Program documents due March 30

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. -- Penn State is reminding employees that the deadline for the Dependent Verification Program is approaching.

In order to continue coverage for dependents, employees must file all required verification documents by Saturday, March 30, to Aon Hewitt, a human resources consulting firm undertaking Penn State's verification process. If the Aon Hewitt Dependent Verification Center does not receive and verify dependent(s)’ eligibility by March 30, those non-verified dependent(s) will be removed from the medical, dental and/or vision plans effective April 1; the tuition discount will be discontinued effective summer 2013. Those who have not yet completed the process, will be receiving a final reminder/notice of cancellation of coverage letter from Aon Hewitt within the next several days.

In November, the University announced the program as a means to control rising health care costs for Penn State and its employees.

Anyone with questions about the verification, can call Aon Hewitt at 888-223-3338. Until March 30, representatives will be available 24 hours a day. They will be closed on Easter Sunday (March 31), and as of April 1, phone hours for the Dependent Verification Center will be 8 a.m. to 11 p.m., Monday through Friday.Faculty and staff having experienced a qualifying event and/or having been hired after Jan. 1, will receive information from Aon Hewitt in the May or June. No action is needed by them at this time. Also, this program applies only to those faculty and staff covering dependents on the medical, dental, vision or tuition discount programs. Information, including Frequently Asked Questions, is also available on the Employee Benefits website at http://ohr.psu.edu/benefits/dependent-verification/.
