Mechanical engineer Ryan Patrick to chair THON 2014

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – Ryan Patrick, a senior in mechanical engineering, was recently named the overall chairperson for the 2014 Penn State Intrafraternity Council/Panhellenic Dance Marathon (THON).

The Jamison, Pa., native was the overall merchandise chairperson for THON 2013, where he was responsible for selling merchandise and protecting the THON brand name.

Patrick’s THON involvement began in 2011 when he was the chair for Beta Theta Pi. In 2012, Patrick became a merchandise captain.

Managing the course load of an engineer with THON’s cancer-fighting mission can be a daunting task, but Patrick says making to-do lists helps him stay on top of his work and use his free time effectively.

Being a mechanical engineer has allowed Patrick to look at situations differently than others and tackle problems with a more analytical approach. This has helped him find success throughout his different leadership positions in THON.
