Trio of Lions set for NCAA men's diving championships

ATLANTA – Divers Hector Garcia Boissier, Jack Crow and Logan Knauss will represent Penn State at the 2016 NCAA Men’s Swimming and Diving Championships, beginning competition Thursday in McAuley Aquatic Center.

Preliminary sessions begin at 12:15 p.m. ET each day, with nightly finals slated for 6 p.m. Live results can be followed at http://www.swmeets.com/Realtime/NCAA/2016/. Additionally, fans can watch the action for Wednesday, Thursday and prelims Friday and Saturday at www.atlantaswimming.com/Webcast. Friday and Saturday’s finals will be streamed live on ESPN3.. Additionally, ESPNU will air a 90-minute show at 7:30 p.m., Wednesday, April 6.

The trio are the first Penn State divers to reach the NCAA men’s championships since Mike Alderman in 2007, and it marks the first time since 1998 that as many as three will be representing the Blue and White.

Garcia, a freshman, will lead the contingent by competing in all three dives, the 1-meter, 3-meter and platform.

The 1-meter will be contested Thursday, the 3-meter Friday, and the platform Thursday. All three will compete ini the 1-meter. Garcia won the 1-meter at the Zone A Regional with a 12-dive score of 696.15, while Knauss was fourth with a score of 621.05. Crow was sixth with a score of 613.40 and will dive after placing second to Garcia in the 3-meter.

Garcia and Crow will compete in the 3-meter Friday. At zones, Garcia totaled a 12-dive score of 732.10 to win the 3-meter, while Crow totaled 717.75 to place runner up.

Garcia capped his Zone meet with a finals appearance in the platform. The performance coupled with his 1- and 3-meter performances was enough to earn him a bid.
