Shenango OT Club to collect, package items for veterans

From now through March 20, Penn State Shenango’s Occupational Therapy (OT) Club will be holding a collection drive of personal items to be included in care packages for veterans in Erie, Pa. Collection boxes are located in the Great Hall of the Sharon Hall building on Penn Avenue and in the Lartz Memorial Library on Vine Avenue in downtown Sharon, Pa. Following its collection drive, the OT Club will be putting together and delivering packages to veterans at the Erie VA Medical Center during its class field trip April 5.“Our goal is to provide at least 50 care packages to the veterans of the Erie VA Medical Center,” OT Club member Amber Conley stated. “We are very happy that we will be meeting and having the opportunity to talk with them during our field trip.”Items being collected by the OT Club include all travel-sized shaving cream, deodorant (non-aerosol), body wash, hand sanitizing lotion, name brand tissues, baby wipes, shampoo, conditioner, denture cleaner and toothpaste, as well as, toothbrushes and combs. They are also collecting boxes of assorted all-occasion cards, large-print word search books, pens, postage stamps, hot cocoa packs, small Hershey chocolate bars and small bags of chips.For more information, please contact the Penn State Shenango OT department at 724-983-2890.
