Diverse Literacies Conference set for Sept. 28

New this year is pre-conference workshop dinner

CENTER VALLEY, Pa. -- The 2013 Diverse Literacies Conference will be held Sept. 28, at the Bear Creek Resort and Conference Center in Macungie, Pa. The theme of the conference is "Nurturing Diverse Learners through Student-Centered Instruction."

The keynote speaker for the conference is Yetta Goodman, a highly influential scholar in literacy education. Goodman will present "Revaluing Readers, Teachers and Reading." Her pre-conference workshop will discuss participants' major questions about how the learner's language influences learning to read and write in the classroom.

A call for proposals will be available in the spring. Proposals for research panels, workshops and visual displays are invited.

New this year is the addition of a pre-conference workshop dinner Sept. 27, also at Bear Creek, led by Goodman.
