Lecture on pioneers of American Modernism set for March 27

University of Penn professor, Peter Conn, will be the featured speaker at a special event that highlights the relationship between Wharton Esherick and Sherwood Anderson, two creative pioneers who made significant contributions to the creation of a distinctively American modern style. “Kindred Spirits: The Making of American Modernism” will be held 7 to 8:30 p.m. March 27, in The Conference Center at Penn State Great Valley, 30 E. Swedesford Road, Malvern. Conn will examine Esherick's sculpture and Anderson's fiction, tracing their respective achievements in this shared endeavor and its significance for modern-day artistic styles.
