UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. -- John Beale, senior lecturer in the College of Communications at Penn State, sent his students scouring the inner bowels of the University to come up with photos of employees working on campus. The assignment yielded photos of employees, who work in essential positions that are -- oftentimes -- out of view of the public.

The photos include employees caring for animals, cleaning, cooking, binding books, patching up injuries and stocking shelves, among many other activities.
