UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. -- The Lady Lions will once again honor survivors and raise money for breast cancer awareness and research at their annual 2013 Pink Zone at Penn State game on Sunday, Feb. 24, when they host Michigan at 1 p.m. in the Bryce Jordan Center on the University Park campus of Penn State.

Fans in attendance at Sunday’s game will receive a pink silicon bracelet, while supplies last. Additionally, $3 of every single game ticket sold will go to the Pink Zone fundraising efforts. There also will be a Kids FunZone on the concourse with a create-a-sign station, caricature artists, face painter and airbrush tattoos.

Fans also will have an opportunity to partake in the silent auction on the concourse that will feature a myriad of items, including an autographed Franco Harris football, a John Cappelletti signed jersey, jewelry, Center for Performing Arts ticket packages and several lunch packages with various Penn Staters. There also will be a postgame live auction for the Lady Lions’ game worn Pink Zone uniforms.

As always, Penn State students are admitted free to Lady Lion games. The first 12 Penn State students will get courtside seats. Additionally the first 100 students will get an official Pink Zone T-shirt.

All money fundraised this year will go to the Mount Nittany Medical Center, Penn State Hershey Center Institute, Pennsylvania Breast Cancer Coalition, the Kay Yow Cancer Fund, J.C. Blair Memorial Hospital and Lewistown Hospital.

Last season, the Lady Lions donated a record of $203,000 to breast cancer research and causes. In addition, Penn State welcomed a record of 505 breast cancer survivors at last year’s Pink Zone game. The Lady Lions topped the Minnesota Golden Gophers, 74-51, in front of 13,849 fans, the fourth-largest crowd in BJC history. In addition to honoring breast cancer survivors and generating awareness for the fight against breast cancer, Penn State clinched the outright Big Ten regular-season title with the victory.

In the six previous Pink Zone at Penn State events, the Lady Lions have donated a total of $565,317.73 to breast cancer charities and awareness. For more information on the Pink Zone at Penn State, visit the official Pink Zone website at pennsylvaniapinkzone.org.
