FRIENDS PURCHASE ARTWORKS

The Friends of the Palmer Museum of Art recently purchased three new works on paper for the museum's collection in memory of benefactor James R. Palmer.
The Friends selected a 19th-century print by the French artist Félix Buhot, titled "Winter in Paris," from a group of six works of art that various galleries sent for consideration, along with a small woodcut by American artist Arthur Wesley Dow and a photograph from Carrie Mae Weems' 1990 Kitchen Table Series. The purchased photograph "Untitled (Playing Cards)" is from one of the artist's earliest series.
These prints will be exhibited in the near future and, along with the numerous works on paper in the museum's collection, will be available for study in the new print study room at the Palmer Museum this fall.
