Construction of the new $30 million Research and Economic Development Center (REDC) at Penn State Erie is expected to begin in spring 2003. When completed, the center will support research designed to serve the educational and economic development interests of northwestern Pennsylvania. Penn State's Board of Trustees approved preliminary plans for the 150,000-square-foot academic building, which will be constructed on the east side of Jordan Road on the hill above the Smith Chapel and Junker Center. When completed, it will be the largest building on the campus. For more on this story, visit
