CHANGES IN HEALTH-CARE PLANS ANNOUNCED

The Office of Human Resources has concluded its review of health-care plans for 2003. In evaluating the available physician and hospital networks offered by each of the plans, as well as services and the willingness to support faculty and staff in managing their health-care and wellness needs, it has been determined that the University will continue to offer HealthAmerica HMO in 2003 in all counties where it is available, but will not continue offering the Geisinger Health Plans in certain counties, primarily in the central Pennsylvania area.

The HealthAmerica HMO costs are comparable to the Geisinger Health Plans costs. There will be no disruption to access for physicians or hospital services by this change. Additional information will be included in a forthcoming Intercom article later this month.
