Golf Team Prepares for WPCC Championships Oct. 8

The coed golf team closed out its regular season at home on Oct. 1 with 5-team match at The Links at Spring Church. The Lions topped Pitt-Titusville but fell to Westmoreland County, Potomac State, and Penn State Beaver to end the season at 4-15. Freshman Mark Ficco, PSNK's number one golfer, shot an uncharacteristic 88, well above his 79.6 average for the year. Sophomore Rob McGowan shot 92 followed by freshman Jon Sorois‚ 97 and freshman Jen Lash's 101. Individual and teams honors will be at stake when the post-season begins with the Western Pennsylvania Collegiate Conference Golf Championship, Tuesday Oct. 8 at 9 a.m. at Latrobe Elks Country Club. Ten teams will vie for the WPCC title and the top 20 individuals will earn a trip to the state championships next week at University Park. Lash is the first woman to compete for the Lions and is the only female in the WPCC. For results and statistics, visit http://www.nk.psu.edu/athletics/golf/index.html
