Soccer America Tabs Lohman, Welsh as All-Americans

Penn State women's soccer players Joanna Lohman and Christie Welsh were recently named All-Americans by Soccer America magazine. Lohman was selected to the first team while Welsh was named second team. Both players have earned a number of postseason honors, including National Soccer Coaches Association of America All-America accolades. Lohman was the only Nittany Lion named to the College Cup All-Tournament team, and was named to Soccer America's National Team of the Week twice. She ranks second in the Penn State career record books with 31 assists and is eighth with 22 goals and 75 points. Welsh leaves Penn State after a stellar career in which she became the Big Ten's and Penn State's career leader in every offensive category with 82 goals, 52 assists, 216 points and 27 game-winning goals. Last year's Hermann Trophy winner and M.A.C. Player of the Year, she is the 14th player in NCAA history to reach 200 career points and is the 29th member of the NCAA's 40 goals-40 assists club.
