Soul Sounds Brings Evolution of Black Music to Altoona

February 06, 2003

Penn State Altoona has rescheduled the appearance of Soul Sounds, which was scheduled for last week but canceled due to weather. The performance has been rescheduled for 7 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 17, in the Wolf-Kuhn Theater on campus. Soul Sounds is a live, sing-along performance and visual multimedia program that takes a "hip trip" through the evolution of black music. Musical performances and video images guide audiences on a journey tracing historic gospel and blues trends to the works of Bessie Smith, jazz icon Duke Ellington, soul legends James Brown, Aretha Franklin and Marvin Gaye, and popular songs from the Motown era.
