Gill leads federal panel on bringing technology to the classroom

A Penn State DuBois faculty member has been invited to lead a panel on a U.S. Department of Education project that will better prepare tomorrow's teachers to use technology in the classroom. Deborah Gill, assistant professor of Spanish at Penn State DuBois, has agreed to serve as the chairperson of an expert panel on the AECT (Advancing the Educational Contributions of Technology) Project."We appreciate Dr. Gill's willingness to step in and fill this role, which we offered because she appeared more than ready to serve as a leader among leaders," says Kyle Peck, director of The AECT Project. The AECT Project is a "catalyst" funded by the U.S. Department of Education's "Preparing Tomorrow's Teachers to Use Technology" program to improve teacher preparation. According to Peck, the project relies on experts, like Gill, to help it define what teachers should know and be able to do with technologies.
