High schools participate in technology challenge at Penn State DuBois

As their peers from 17 schools from across northcentral Pennsylvania looked on, four Jeff Tech students stepped into the winners circle to claim the school trophy at the fifth-annual High School Technology Challenge held last month at Penn State DuBois. Sponsored by the Penn State DuBois Tech Prep program, the High School Technology Challenge promotes the study of technology at the high school level. "The challenge is designed to show students how the hands-on technical skills and many disciplines they are learning in high school are interrelated. Students can't study for this, they have to draw upon the knowledge and skills they already have," says Diane Gigliotti, co-coordinator of the Penn State DuBois Tech Prep program and event organizer. This year's victory is the second for Jeff Tech, which won the school trophy at the first challenge held in 1999.
