Students turn trash to treasure for United Way

April 25, 2003

Penn State Altoona students will have the opportunity to donate any usable items they don't want to take home with them and help the local community through the Trash to Treasure program. From April 28 to May 10, students can place their donations in collection boxes located in the College's four residence halls. United Way of Blair County will collect and sort the items, and have a community-wide yard sale, with all proceeds benefiting the United Way. "The Trash to Treasure event has been held at University Park campus for the past several years and has been very successful, so Penn State Altoona wanted to partner with United Way of Blair County to sponsor a similar event," says Alison Raftery, Director of Housing and Food Services. Donations such as food, clothing, furniture, electronics and other items in good condition are welcome.
