Faculty member named to General Assembly Committee

Penn State Harrisburg Associate Professor of Health Care Administration and Policy Cynthia Massie Mara has been appointed to the Pennsylvania General Assembly's Joint State Government Commission Advisory Committee on Geriatric and Seriously Ill Inmates. The Committee will assist the Commission's bipartisan Legislative Task Force on a study of older and seriously ill prisoners. Recommendations will be made to the General Assembly regarding these populations. Mara was appointed to the committee as a result of research she has conducted regarding older and disabled inmates in the Pennsylvania state corrections system, including a study sponsored by the U.S. Department of Justice Institute of Justice. Mara has also been appointed co-chair of the Policy Committee of the Pennsylvania Culture Change Coalition, a statewide organization that facilitates change in the organizational culture of long-term care entities.
