Campus police officer serves in Iraq, spurs donation drive

Penn State Beaver police officer Justin Thomas is currently serving on active duty as a military police officer in Iraq. Thomas recently corresponded with Ron Schwartz, head of Beaver campus police, and wrote of the continued day-to-day fighting that troops are encountering. Thomas detailed several very "close calls" and the constant threat to the lives of troops. He also indicated that troops are in continuous need of personal hygiene items and reading material. As a result, Schwartz has organized a campus-wide effort to gather donations to send to troops in Iraq. Campus faculty and staff have been contributing numerous items, ranging from novels by Aldous Huxley to razors. The gifts will be shipped to Iraq next week and distributed there.
