Student Affairs announces change in orientation process

Amy Gartley, associate director of student affairs, announced that the traditional orientation process at Penn State Beaver will undergo a few changes this fall. "What was once referred to as orientation will now be known as New Student Day," Gartley said. "We want to place the focus on all students who will be arriving on campus, whether they're incoming freshmen, transfer students, change-of-assignment students, adults, or any combination therein. We also want to emphasize a whole entry process as students begin classes, rather than just focusing on one day." Gartley and her staff will be working in conjunction with the academic affairs staff to insure that new students receive everything they need to achieve academic success. Gartley and Landon Clark, student activities assistant, will oversee all activities for New Student Day, which is scheduled for Aug. 29, and will include a welcome convocation and meetings with college departments and advisors. Nicole Fenton, a junior majoring in communications, and Marques White, a sophomore enrolled in the division of undergraduate studies, will serve as this year's student co-leaders of New Student Day.
