University Park, Pa. -- Penn State Public Broadcasting (PSPB) announces the launch of "Talk Tuesdays," a new line up of live call-in programs that will be simulcast Tuesdays this fall at 7 p.m. on three media -- WPSX-TV, WPSU-FM and audio and video streamed live on the Web at http://wpsx.org/ and http://wpsu.org/

Programs include "Take Note Live," "To the Best of My Knowledge with Graham Spanier," "Race Matters" and a new program, "About Business," hosted by the dean of Penn State's Smeal College of Business Administration, Judy Olian.

The programs bring broadcasting and the Internet together by offering viewers and listeners the opportunity to join the discussions by calling 1-800-543-8242 or by logging onto the Web.

"About Business," a collaboration with PSPB and the Smeal College of Business, will launch the "Talk Tuesdays" block on Oct. 7 at 7 p.m., and offer commentary about a wide spectrum of business issues impacting the region and nation. A nationally-syndicated columnist, Olian and her guests will respond to calls and e-mails from listeners and viewers.

"The 'Talk Tuesdays' concept is a real multimedia project, since it joins together all aspects of communications," said Penn State Public Broadcasting station manager Tracy Vosburgh.

ABOUT BUSINESS
Judy Olian's guests for the premier episode of "About Business" on Oct. 7 at 7 p.m. will be David Harrison of the Smeal College and Cheryl Johnson of the Private Industry Council of Centre County (PICCC). Along with Olian, they will address the downsizing equation, from corporate leaders confronting the dilemma of losing money or making cuts, to laid-off employees trying to survive and get back on their feet, to other workers left feeling empty as the economy continues to stumble. Viewers and listeners can contact About Business with questions during the broadcast at 1-800-543-8242 or response@psu.edu.

Judy Olian is a nationally-syndicated business columnist, management expert and dean of the Smeal College of Business Administration. Born and raised in Australia, Olian received a B.A. in psychology from the Hebrew University, Jerusalem and a M.Sc. and Ph.D. in Industrial Relations and Human Resource Management from the University of Wisconsin, Madison. As a long-time management speaker and consultant, she specializes in strategic human resource management and business alignment of management systems in technology-driven organizations. Prior to joining Smeal College as dean in July 2000, she served in senior executive roles at the Robert H. Smith School of Business at the University of Maryland.

"About Business" is a collaboration of PSPB and the Smeal College of Business. Subsequent episodes are scheduled to air on Nov. 4 and Dec. 3.

Upcoming topics for "Race Matters" include Race in the Current Economy; Music in the Civil Rights Movement; Race and the Military; Race and Sports; and Racial Disparities in Healthcare.

TO THE BEST OF MY KNOWLEDGE
