'Bring on the Lion' commemorative brick campaign grows

A slightly smaller-than-life replica of the Penn State Nittany Lion Shrine has arrived at the Beaver campus, thanks to donations made by 100 campus friends, alumni, faculty and staff. The lion currently resides in the Study Learning Center's theater lobby, but will eventually crouch on the lawn near the new Administration Building, scheduled for completion in early 2004. The "Bring on the Lion" campaign is one in which anyone can purchase a commemorative brick for $100 and have it engraved with their own choice of words. The bricks will be placed in a landscaped area surrounding the completed Nittany Lion Shrine. Yvonne Maher, director of institutional advancement, hopes to sell at least 150 bricks to provide further funding for maintenance and additional room for more bricks near the shrine. The bricks are 4"x 8" and can contain up to three lines with 14 characters per line.
