November 07, 2003

Penn State Shenango will host the Latin jazz group, Salsamba, on Wednesday, Nov. 12, at 7 p.m. in the Penn State Theatre. The concert, which is free and open to the public, is part of the 2003-04 Cultural and Community Event Series. Salsamba is a jazz quintet with a recipe for musical excitement which blends the traditions of American jazz with the spicy rhythms of Cuba, Brazil and the Caribbean. Based in Pittsburgh, the group performs at clubs and festivals throughout the United States including the Mellon Jazz Festival, Bethlehem Musikfest, and the Eureka Springs Jazz Festival. Their debut album, Mambo in Blue, was released in 1988. Since then, they have produced two other recordings and are presently working on their fourth CD.
