Hepatitis A information available for students, employees, and public

November 17, 2003

This month's outbreak of Hepatitis A in and around the Beaver County area has raised both questions about, and awareness of, the disease. Information about Hepatitis A is free and can be easily obtained from a number of qualified sources. If you have questions about whether you might have contracted the disease, how the problem is diagnosed, how to seek treatment, and the contagion factors regarding Hepatitis A, contact Penn State Beaver campus nurse Barbara McDanel at bqm5@psu.edu or (724) 773-3955. Other excellent sources of information include the Pennsylvania Department of Health at 1-877-PA HEALTH or www.dsf.health.state.pa.us/health. You can also visit the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) website at www.cdc.gov/hepatitis or contact your personal physician or health care provider immediately.
